Design: A private home in a Venetian seaside resort town was set to realize a generous floor plan, a swimming pool, and low maintenance outdoor areas on a small plot of land. The transparent living space opens to two differently sized yards, each one featuring an olive tree as a defining element. A west-facing roof overhang of four meters gives shade in hot summers. The technical equipment was mostly integrated in the surfaces.
Wood: A large part of the residential building consists of prefabricated timber elements, designed with a special focus on structural stability in a seismically active area. At the same time, the use of these elements allowed for the realization of a spacious indoor area with a climatically pleasant ambience.
Energy: The thermally beneficial properties of the wooden walls, aided by additional glass and wall facade isolation as well as systematic avoidance of thermal bridges, lowered the heating energy demand of the building to below 30 kWh/m²a, qualifying the building for class A of the APE energy certificate.
