Design: The building is the result of an invited competition launched by the municipality. It consists of two three-storey building segments, joined and made accessible through a communicative, integrated hallway, and a penthouse level on top. The 20 housing units feature modern open floor plans and generous windows.
Wood: The building ist the first residential building entirely made of wood and the first four-storey wood building in Slovenia. With the exception of the underground level, no concrete or reinforced concrete has been used anywhere in the building. The structural system of the building, including the staircase and elevator core, and all non-loadbearing elements consist of cross-laminated timber. The timber was processed within 10 kilometers. The investor agreed to building with wood only shortly before the building application was submitted. One of the advantages of building with wood displayed here is the saving of time, as the timber construction was produced and erected in only one month.
Energy: The thermally insualting properties of cross-laminated timber and the use of individual ventilation units with heat recovery helped the building reach a very low energy demand.
