A new office building for a wood construction company doubles as a showcase project for the technological, energetic, and design possibilities of wood.
Design: A South Tyrolean wood construction company required an additional office building for its administration which would also serve as a showcase for their technical expertise and the company philosophy. The new building is the result of an invited competition and stands out significantly in the industrial zone where it is situated. It was built by the company itself.

Wood: The wooden monolith with five overground floors is set on a black concrete basement. The facade with its undulating larch fins is a playful representation of wood as a light and heavy material. The building was designed to feature a variety of approaches to build with wood, from raw industrial grade cross-laminated timber to refined face quality grade timber for the interior finishing. Solid cross-laminated timber beams and frames form the structural system of the building, while the non-loadbearing walls are made with a lighter timber frame and panel construction.

Energy: The thorough use of solid cross-laminated timber and modern house technique allowed for a certification as a passive house (CasaClima Gold). Additionally, the building was awarded with the certificates CasaClima Nature for its exclusive use of sustainable construction materials as well as CasaClima Work&Life for its pleasant indoors working environment qualities.
